Optimizing Obesity Management in Health Systems Through Evidence-Based Treatment and Access Initiatives

Meeting Objectives:

    • Gain insights into the neuroendocrine, metabolic, and inflammatory mechanisms that contribute to obesity. Recognize the limitations of BMI-based classifications and explore the ABCD (Adiposity-Based Chronic Disease) model to better identify treatment gaps and inform decision-making within health system frameworks.
    • Examine current AOMs by comparing efficacy, safety, and mechanisms of action. Apply clinical guidelines to real-world patient cases, considering individual characteristics, comorbidities, and access challenges—including formulary status and insurance coverage
    • Review practical approaches to enhance care pathways across clinical settings, including screening, patient education, individualized treatment planning, and coordinated follow-up. Address common barriers such as prior authorization and medication affordability, while supporting sustained engagement and continuity of care.
